What is a Blog? How and why blogs are used? As part of the seminar: "Economic Geography of the Internet" was the theme blog, treated as a form of interaction and communication in the social and economic space Internet. The development of the medium from the origin, the rapid spread, until the current "hype " was discussed. Scientific studies on interactions between "blog-journalism and real journalism, and effective use of opportunities empirical measurement of the impact were presented and discussed. Moreover, the conceptual development and update of an accompanying blog integral part of the seminar program for some of the participants. In the results of the different approaches and perspectives together tried to answer above-mentioned issues. Finally, herewith, a personal summary on the content and implementation of the internal blog seminar will be presented, the following guiding question picks: what has been written in the blog / publish what would have been on a website not written / published?
The blog "Intergeo was in five people with different prior knowledge Computer science and experience in the use of the Internet creates. The concept of a blog was before the seminar, only one of the editors know, no one had practical experience with the application. Ideas and expectations were based initially only on the introductory description of the instructor, defined through the comparison with a website, a blog as a kind of simple, informal version. The only request that was linked to the production, it was recorded content and course of the seminar and to make room for further discussion ("Comment"). From these direct and indirect targets were obtained for the authors of the first releases ("content") following challenges to the content of the seminar had to be played scientifically correct, on the other hand, the course incorporated and both are represented in more informal form.
The first three posts (subscriber, Abstract, outline) reproduce exclusively importing administrative issues, the fourth recorded in detail the contents of the first session and adds interesting technical details. Until then, we purposely omitted colloquial expression, was elected a chronological, bullet points format and the requirements of a top seminar according to formalities (outline, citation, expression) taken. Comparing the above points dissociates, the subsequent post (10/26/2004) significantly from the previous: technical amendments have been replaced by informal, formulated statements and then the previous format, in a juxtaposition of bullet points and text passages, extended. It is certainly not alone in the words of the lecturer - to favor the more open nature of the "blog-style" - but also to the typical characteristics of a blog, "Evolution" (see, 1:02:05, final discussion on the subject: Blog on! due individuality and sociality on the Internet) that later because Posts oriented and established procedures deconstructed further. This trend continued in the course of the publications further continued and led to the current appearance of the blog "INTERGEO," which conveys the impression of a relatively unstructured, more or less detailed (depending on the time and interest expense for the editor) juxtaposition of scientific and informal statements of the seminar.
It must also be taken into account that in the blog due to technical reasons, the more complex structure possibilities of a website can not be achieved. A blog is more like a single page of any length, being limited clarity on the visible portion effectively. For this reason we find in a home rarely available which correspond to the extent a blog. In addition, a home product is a single editor that his work can been clearly defined to be an official, serious character properly (one to many). A blog that is designed collaboratively by many (many to many), needs to give an official image is much more coordination in advance. It is clear that the central question introduced at the beginning and only postponed the issue should be clarified, which claim the blog has been set.
primary blogs are a technology, a simplified versions of large web content management systems. Using blogging software to keep a journal on the Web is about as easy how to send an e-mail. A blog can be a diary, a scientific publication or a collection of public notes.
